Story from The Union Democrat
newspaper Friday, March 4, 2005
Ridge Schneider was joking when he
said he would cut his 1970's-style hair for donations of $1,000 or more to
support churches in Kenya, but Sonora developers Mike Jones and Ron Woodall
took him up on the offer.
They each offered to donate $1.200 to Harvest Fields Ministry, which
supports pastors and churches in Kenya, Africa. Schneider's Wife, Sally,
added another $1,200 to the mix, bringing the total to $3,600.
"It's a great day when anybody gets $1,200 out of Mike Jones," Schneider
said as he settled into the chair for his haircut.
He is pastor of Mt. Zion Community Church at 14888 Peaceful Valley Road.
Church member Meg Dondero quickly swept up Schneider's hair and plans to
sell it at $100 a lock, with all the proceeds going to the Ministry in
Kenya.
"He didn't think people would pay for a lock of his hair," she said, "but
I think they will. A lot of people know Ridge, and I think they'll want to
donate to such a good cause." |
